Protection Plus Scenarios

Up to $2,500 reimbursement to clients if a legitimate preparation error has been made
Example: On a client’s form 1099-R, the preparer failed to enter the taxable amount of retirement income.Two years later, the client received notice of this and was assessed a tax liability and interest was charged. Protection Plus Audit Assistance will pay the tax liability and interest up to $2,500. (Excludes: AK, AR, CT, ID, ME,
ND, NH, RI, TN, PR)

Coverage for denied credits such as EIC, Child Tax Credit, and Education Credit, even if the return was unfunded
Example: A client was denied EIC and Child Tax Credit for her grandchildren. Her anticipated refund was denied by the IRS. When her tax return was e-filed, the Protection Plus Audit Assistance contract was attached. Even though her return was unfunded, she was covered under the Protection Plus Audit Assistance contract. Protection Plus Audit Assistance will work with her to submit the documents the IRS needs in order to get her
return funded.

Schedule A, Schedule C, and Schedule E coverage at no additional charge
Example: A year after a return was filed – the IRS is auditing your client for his Schedule A deductions. With just one phone call, the knowledgeable staff at Protection Plus Audit Assistance goes to work for your client. The client’s case file will be handled in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.

Tax Debt Relief Assistance Included
Example: Taxpayer agrees to our contract and his/her return is funded. Two years later, the taxpayer contacts our office, as they are in collections by the IRS for the year that the contract covered. Our knowledgeable staff will work with that taxpayer for the purpose of “tax debt relief”. The IRS has standards and rules; however, there are legitimate ways to work with the IRS to come to an agreement for realistic debt relief.

Rejected ITIN (W-7) Applications
The IRS announced changes to strengthen its procedures for issuing Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs). Protection Plus Audit Assistance knows the latest rules and document requirements in order to work with taxpayers whose ITIN (W-7) Applications have been rejected by the IRS.
